Washington Middle School is known as a community of learners dedicated to the achievement of academic excellence for all. Our teachers actively engage all students in meaningful learning opportunities, using research-based instructional practices and an effectively implemented standards-based curriculum. Our school is a place where students and staff learn from each other as they recognize and value diversity. Parent and community involvement is continually sought and encouraged.
Awards and Recognition
Washington Middle School was named a Wisconsin Promise School of Recognition in and an Apple Distinguised School in both 2009 and 2010.
1:1 Laptop Program
Washington Middle School is the first 1:1 laptop school in Wisconsin. The program provides each student at Washington with a laptop during the school year. The program was implemented in 2005. (For more information see the 1:1 Laptop link.)
Student Data
The official 2009-10 school enrollment at Washington Middle School is 610 students in grades 6, 7, and 8. The student population includes 52.9 % minorities. Of our minority population, 28.2 % are Hispanic and 23.9% are African-American.
ELL Services
Services are provided to all English language learners in grades 6,7 and 8.
Special Education Services
Special education services are available for students in the areas of learning, emotional, cognitive, speech and language disabilities at all grade levels.
